What You Can Do To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs In Your Bed

Posted on: 3 August 2022

Bed bugs are a pest that can be difficult to get rid of once they get into your home. They can get to your home in a number of ways, including on your clothing, your shoes, or your luggage from elsewhere such as a hotel, or from someone else's home. If you end up with bed bugs in your home, there are telltale signs that you have them. These pests may leave behind blood smears on your walls or on your bedding, or they may leave behind their skin sheds. You may also see live bugs as well. If you've spotted the signs and you are sure this is the pest you have in your home, there are ways to get rid of them. Read on for some tips to help you get rid of them.

Vacuum Your Mattress

Vacuum your mattress thoroughly and get in between the cracks and crevices of your mattress and your box spring as well. Your mattress and box spring cannot be placed in the washing machine, so it needs to be vacuumed. It should be vacuumed more than once, making sure you get all of the bugs on it. Place your mattress in a mattress protector to prevent any more bed bugs and to kill any that are still stuck inside. Your box spring should also be placed into a mattress protector.

Clean Your Bed

Your actual bed frame and bed need to be cleaned thoroughly. Wipe down your bed with a general cleaner and kill any bed bugs that you may spot. You can spray your bed with a pesticide but allow it to dry and air out after using it before you put any bedding back onto your bed. Move your mattress and box spring away from the headboard if you can. Wipe down the legs of the bed as well.

Vacuum Your Bedroom

You should vacuum beneath your bed and beneath all of your bedroom furniture as well. Vacuum the bedroom thoroughly and vacuum it daily until you are rid of these pests. Vacuum your baseboards and be sure to get in between the baseboards and your carpeting if you have carpeting in your bedroom. Empty the canister of the vacuum outside in a plastic garbage bag and seal it tightly to kill any bed bugs that may be alive inside.

If you have bed bugs in your bedroom, you need to get rid of them before they get out of hand and are found throughout your home. Find a local bed bug service to help you get rid of them.
